VEMS BOLLPLANK – Februari 2018

Välkomna till Bollplank!

Denna gång ber jag er fästa uppmärksamhet på…

1. VEMS-information:
   • VEMS-konsert på gång. Den 21/4 är VEMS del i Stockholm kulturnatts program.
   • Konsert i samarbete med SEAMS är föreslaget.
   • Det finns planer på att ta Tamás Ungvárys sentograf-forskning vidare. I projektform undersöks möjligheten att utveckla taktila användargränssnitt kopplade till mjukvarusyntpatchar enligt Tamás teorier. Förundersökning pågår.
   • Kommande bollplanksaktiviteter – välkomna med förslag!
2. Dessutom: EMS gästtonsättare Vanessa Massera från Kanada presenterar sig själv och sin musik.
3. Dessutom: EMS gästtonsättare Yann Coppier ger sin story om livet, konsten, musiken och annat hyggligt väsentligt.
4. Sämsta högtalartävlingen: Ett rykande färskt illalåtande bidrag presenteras. Vi kommer att visa en eller flera sämst-kandidater till sämsta-högtalartävlingen som VEMS utlyst. Denna gång är det bl.a. en Work-in-progress presentation, ett projekt som kört fast kan man säga. Högtalaren skulle i teorin låtit sämre än den gjorde i verkligheten. Projektet är i desperat behov av input. VEMS-kollektivet har nu chansen att bidraga med teoretiska vinklingar på en tänkbar försämrings-fortsättning på projektet. Vi kommer att utföra lyssningsprov och kanske välja väg för nästa försämringssteg i projektet.
5. Vi har fortfarande inte kommit närmare lösningen på vårt så kallade Decembermysterium: Vad gör Göran Svenssons brödrost i glasmontern i EMS entré? Varför i hela friden har en skabbig sunkbrun ultraful brödrost förärats plats i en monter som visar de legendariska kvarvarande nyckelkomponenterna av EMS banbrytande elektronikkonstruktioner? VEMS medlemmar uppmanas att hjälpa till att skingra dimmorna.

Om Vanessa Massera:
As a composer, Vanessa is very interested in the manifestation of serendipity in her life. Originating from Montréal, she specialised in electroacoustic music in which she discovered very powerful means to express infinitely sensitive and poetic ideas. Her current research at the University of Sheffield is bringing her to look into the interpretation of acousmatic music, whilst constantly exploring her musical expression. Her latest piece, An almost abstract experience, was partly composed at EMS in last November and she is now back in Sweden after a world premiere of the piece in Visby Konstmuseum in conjunction with Audiorama and Visby Tonsättarcentrum.

Om Yann Coppier:
A French composer living in Copenhagen, sound artist Yann Coppier has been developing a very eclectic repertoire through studio productions, field recording,  sound design and composition for movies/theatre/contemporary dance, art installations, programming and live performances. In 2017 he started an artistic research process funded by the Danish Ministry of Culture, in relation to his work as head of the sound line at Den Danske Scenekunstskole: an exploration into the meaning of sounds mostly in between non-realism and non-abstraction, and the ways to compose with sonic dramaturgies – the dramaturgy being part of the sounds themselves, as well as of the overall structure in the pieces.

Electroacoustic music with a purpose beyond sound itself, often tending towards the absurd. A loudspeaker will commit suicide. A train will listen to the soundscape passing by as it rides. A snowflake will implode as it touches the ground, and a piano will follow drops of water as it would with a metronome. Refugees will be displaced again and again until they reach their starting point. A man will fall in a well with no end, and worms recorded below silence will sing new uncharted melodies.
